Admission

Admission rules and eligibility for Certificate and Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery are set by the Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC)and Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examinations Board (UNMEB) and these may vary from time to time as the regulatory bodies deem fit. 1. Certificate in Nursing/ Midwifery (CN/CM)
Course Duration: Two and half years.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Must be aged 18 years and above
  • In possession of Ordinary Level certificate with passes in the following subjects: Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with biological sciences is an added advantage but not a requirement.

Candidates must satisfy the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Sports and BSNM interview panel.

2. Diploma in Nursing Extension/ Midwifery (DNE/ DME)
Course Duration: One and half years.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Must be Registered with Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council 
  • Must have two years working experience.
  • Must have a valid practicing license.  

3. Certificate in Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS)
Course Duration: 2 years.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Must be aged 18 years and above
  • In possession of Ordinary Level (Uganda Certificate of Education) certificate with passes in the following subjects: Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  
  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with biological sciences is an added advantage but not a requirement.

4. Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences (DEHS)
Course Duration: 2 years

Minimum Entry Requirements
  • Certificate in Environmental Health Sciences, Nursing, Midwifery.
  • MUST be registered with the relevant Council with a valid practicing license. 
  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) Principal pass in Biology or Chemistry.
