Our History
“Our parents and the entire community have looked after us for years. They have made us capable of what we are today. If we ignore them and overlook their needs, we cannot be called caring human beings. As originators, our foremost duty is to lend an ear to their problems and be part of the solution before we head out to change the entire world”
Established in 2015, Bwera School of Nursing and Midwifery (BSNM) is a registered health training institution in Uganda with the prime mandate to conduct training programs in midwifery and nursing. It was founded by a dedicated team of indigenous professionals from diverse backgrounds with a passion for sustainable development through provision of medical education and community service.
As the old proverb goes, charity begins at home, the vision bearers of the school strongly believe that change must begin at “home”. The establishment of this institution is a noble gesture of giving back to the community for the good of the people. BSNM is one initiative of its kind that trains healthcare professionals, including nurses and midwives who will meaningfully contribute to our collective dream of ensuring a healthier community for everyone. Our students are exposed to real-world experiences in people-centred care practices with a rural disposition.
Bwera School of Nursing and Midwifery is located in Bwera, Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese District and lies along the Equator in the Western region of Uganda. Kasese district is a multi-ethnic community with a total population of 1,000,000 people and serves as one of the major tourism destinations in the Rwenzori sub-region of Uganda, East Africa.
